Have you ever seen someone on the street with bright vivid hair and wanted to go all-out with your own, there is perhaps no better time to visit your local hairdresser and look into a bold new look.
From a subtle balayage to a striking cobalt blue, there will be a colour treatment and a specific colour palette that suits your look and style, but before taking the plunge and going all-out with your new look, here are some important facts you need to know before booking the appointment.
Bright Hair Dyes Do Not Last Without Help
Whilst you can get permanent bright colour dyes, they will tend to fade every time you wash your hair, and if you wash your hair every day, it will start to noticeably fade quicker than you might expect.
This is true of all hair dyes, but natural colours do not tend to fade quite as noticeably as quickly.
You can help it last by using dedicated colour care shampoos and conditions, and they do not even need to necessarily be salon-grade ones to provide some longevity.
As well as this, use hairspray to create a barrier for your colour and avoid hair oils as they can break down the dye.
The Deeper The Shade, The Longer It Lasts
Lighter pastel shades such as coral or baby blue will not last as long as a deep cobalt or striking violet, but they will not change as fundamentally as a bolder shade might throughout the dye job.
At the same time, it does mean that touching up a darker shade is potentially less of a hassle than having to dye your hair again.
You Do Not Need To Commit
Conversely, some people worry that they need to commit to a colour, but if you are not sure how you’d look with a particular colour style, use a one-day colour spray to get a general idea of whether a bold colour would be right for you.
